Visitors to your website wouldn’t like to see your pages taking a long time to load. Neither would Google. Just about six months back, Google introduced a Site Speed feature to the new Google Analytics interface. To take advantage of this option, the website owner had to add “_trackPageLoadTime();” to the website’s tracking code. However, this is not the case anymore. The code is now available to all people who use Google Analytics and they don’t have to modify their existing tracking code.
To access the Site Speed report, all you have to do is visit the Content Section in your Google Analytics account. Within this report, you would find three tabs that provide faintly differing analyses of your website’s performance with respect to site speed. These three tabs are:
- Explorer – This gives you an idea of the loading time for a page
- Map Overlay – It shows the variations in site speed felt by users in different continents, countries or cities
- Performance – It buckets site speed performance on the basis of page load time
