Unlike other sites, it requires more time and effort to manage and maintain news websites that compete for the top spot in the ‘News’ section of Google Search.
Google, the search engine giant has now launched the News Publisher Center that ensures sure visibility to your great content. This web tool also makes it possible for publishers to quickly and easily update information about their news source.
With this center, the interface is made easier by letting publishers update content in real time. The content can be classified into sections such as local news, politics, finance, fashion, entertainment, technology and travel.
This new service also enables webmasters to make changes to the search engine’s record of their website that includes:
- Updating the news site details such as changing the site name and labeling publication with any relevant source labels
- Updating the section URLs when the site structure is changed
- Labeling the sections with a specific topic such as “Technology” or “Politics”
With the Publisher Center, site owners can benefit from better discovery and classification of the content.
Regarding this launch, Google’s blog says: “Ultimately, our goal is to make this a platform where news publishers and Google News can work together to provide readers with the best, most diverse news on the web”.
The tool is now available only to publishers in the U.S, though the company plans to introduce it in other countries soon and add more features. Google has also released a help section on the Google News Publisher Center.
